The Inspector General of Police Mohammad Adamu has directed the immediate security beef-up in all states of the federation including Abuja.
A statement by police spokesman, Frank Mba said this followed the series of violent protests and unrests by Shiites in Abuja. He also conveyed the Inspector General of Police’s assurance that proactive measures including aerial surveillance of major cities had been emplaced to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.
The Spokesman explained that zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners nationwide have been mandated to ensure that customized security arrangements are put in place in their areas of responsibility to check activities of criminals and any possible threat to public peace.
The statement enjoined citizens to be wary of circulating unsubstantiated security advisories capable of creating undue fear, panic and apprehension in the country.
