The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar the third has urged the Muslim Ummah to sustain fervent prayers for the nation’s leaders for sustainable peace and unity in the country and beyond and tasked Nigerians to continue to live in peace irrespective of religious, ethnic and cultural differences.
The Sultan also has declared today Tuesday June 4, as the Eid-el-Fitr marking the end of Ramadan fast.
The Sultan who announced the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal in a radio and television broadcast in Sokoto, said the new moon was sighted in Kaduna, Kebbi, Yobe, Borno, Jigawa and Sokoto States among others.
In accordance with Islamic law, he declared yesterday Monday, the 29th day of Ramadan,1440 AH, which is equivalent to June 3rd, marking the end of Ramadan and today Tuesday 4th June as the beginning of the new month of Shawwal.
