The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has warned the public against disseminating unsubstantiated security advisories that could create fear and anxiety in the country. Read This: E-Passports: Buhari Gives Nigeria’s Minting Company Sole Right To Produce

The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba said in a statement that Adamu gave the warning at the backdrop of violent protests by Shi’ite group in Abuja.

He said the Police Boss had ordered the immediate beef-up of security in all the states of the federation and Abuja.

According to Mba, the proactive measures, including aerial surveillance of major cities, have been emplaced to ensure the safety and security of lives and property of all Nigerians.

He said that Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Police Commissioners nationwide had been mandated to ensure customized security arrangements. The Spokesman explained that the idea was to checkmate the activities of criminals and any possible threat to public peace in their respective area of responsibilities.
