Buhari also explained that he would not want his administration to be defined by the spate of insecurity, noting that would not leave Nigeria in security crisis at the end of his tenure in 2023. The President spoke at the National Security Council, NSC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno who made known the President’s statement at a briefing after the meeting, however, added that Buhari is happy with the progress made between the last meeting in June and Thursday’s.

In a similar vein, Minister of Information Lai Mohammed from the United States said Nigeria is on course in winning the terrorists fight. He also denied that the country is at war or heading in the direction of Afghanistan, where Taliban has taken over the government.
