The Defence Headquarters says the Air Task Force, ATF of Operation Lafiya Dole has launched an air strikes on terrorists’ locations at Bula Bello and Ngoske on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno state.
The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche in a statement, said the air strike destroyed Boko Haram’s facilities and killed many fighters.
He added that the recent success was as a result of subsidiary Operation Long Reach being conducted in the push to end the activities of the terrorists in the North-East, noting that the air interdiction missions were executed sequel to credible intelligence reports that revealed the presence of the terrorists in the area. He explained that the terrorists used the closely linked settlements as staging points to launch attacks against friendly forces’ locations and surrounding civilian settlements.
In same vein, the Zamfara state Police command has cautioned the 80-man combined security team deployed to Bindin Village in the state to shun inter-agency rivalry.
The State Police Commissioner, Usman Nagogo Nagogo gave the warning in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara Command, Shehu Mohammed in Gusau. The team comprises the Army, Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel.
