Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has called on the party’s national leadership to adopt a unified approach in resolving the controversy surrounding the emergence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate,
Atiku Abubakar, or be ready to face imminent defeat during the forthcoming 2023 general election.

Jang gave the advice in a statement in Jos on Friday.

According to him, it was wrong for the party and its presidential
candidate to jettison the choice of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers
State as Atiku’s running mate as recommended by majority of members
of the Selection Committee in favour of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,
describing it as a mistake that must be corrected to enable the party to
move forward.

The former Governor added that he is calling on the party and other
stakeholders to rise in defence of the truth as a way of assuring their
teeming supporters of the seriousness of the PDP to wrest power from
the APC.

He further stated that the whims of a few should not be allowed to
override the choices of many.
