Joe Aribo may miss the opportunity of making his second appearance for the Nigeria national team after Rangers manager Steven Gerrard revealed to the media on Thursday that the midfielder will have no part to play in their weekend against Aberdeen.
Rangers medical team have not yet provided the exact number of days the youngster will spend in the treatment room after picking a head injury in their last encounter against Livingston which they won 1-0 in the Scottish Premier league.
Gerrard was quoted as saying by Rangers official website that Aribo absence will have a negative impact on his side.
”I am sure the doctor will decide in the coming days how many that will be, but he certainly won’t be available for the weekend and it could have an impact on the Europa League, next week’s fixtures and maybe international too as it is right in the centre of his forehead,
”So, I suppose it will depend on what type of protection in the coming weeks we can get to him and how comfortable he is as it is in a real, awkward spot.” Gerrard said.
Despite uncertainty surrounding his fitness level, Aribo was handed a spot by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr in the 23-man provisional roster released by the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday for the October 13th international friendly against Brazil in Singapore.
