Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says valuable items including ballot boxes, voting cubicles and power generating sets were destroyed after an attack on its Izzi Local Government Area, LGA office in Ebonyi
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said this in a statement in Abuja.
Okoye said that the state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC Onyeka Pauline Ugochi reported that the office was set ablaze by some unidentified attackers.
Okoye said that the attention of the police and other security agencies has been drawn to the incident and investigation commenced.
However he lamented that it is sad, noting that this is the third attack on their LGA office in less than three weeks following similar attacks on their offices in Ogun and Osun on 10th November.
