The Federal Government has urged the State Section Committees on the Expanded Special Public Works Programme for the recruitment of 774,000 unskilled workers to proceed on their work unhindered.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo said this in a statement in Abuja.
The minister was reacting to a report on the alleged purported suspension of the Selection process of 774,000 jobs by the National Assembly Joint Committees on Labour.
Keyamo said that it was only President Muhammadu Buhari, who approved the Expanded Special Work Programne, that has the power to stop the programme.
The minister said that the National Assembly Committees do not have the powers to give directives to the executive.
He said that the powers of the National Assembly and its committees under section 88 of the 1999 Constitution was only limited to investigations, and not to give any directive to the executive.
