The Federal Government has pledged to improve on Occupational Safety and Health performance nationwide, by providing the framework for workers’ protection.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said this during a one-day Stakeholders’ Consultative meeting for the Validation of the Draft Revised National Policy on organised by the ministry and the International Labour Organisation.
Ngige, represented by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Labour and Employment, Williams Alo, said that a well-articulated National Policy on was a sine-qua-non for the achievement of the safety and health protection for workers.
The minister also said that the sanctity of the policy should, to all in intents and purposes, remain sacrosanct, more so as it has been developed in collaboration with wide range of stakeholders.
He, however, said that the revised policy would incorporate global best practices of OSH and also accommodate recent technological advancements.WhAy4�E��
