Professionalism: Forum Backs Journalists’ Role To Hold Leaders Accountable

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF says the organise training for journalists to help them perform their constitutional duty of holding public office holders to account.

An Executive Director of the Forum, Abubakar Jibia stated this in Abuja at a two-day training for journalists on “Budget Tracking and Data-Driven Journalism”.

He said the training was organised in conjunction with Premium Times to help journalists achieve the objective of Section 22 of the 1999 Constitution.

The Forums’ Director-General Asishana Okauru also underscored the need to hold professionalism while carrying out journalistic activities.

On his part, The Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times Musikilu Mojeed advocated ‘Solution Journalism’ to check abuse of office by public officials.
