President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the mandatory procurement of compressed-natural-gas-powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies.
The President, who gave the directive while addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House, affirmed his stance on all energy reforms initiated by his administration.
In a statement, the President’s Spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, stated that the President has directed the rejection of all memos presented by members of the Federal Executive Council seeking the purchase of petrol-dependent vehicles.
Ngelale added that the President tasked the affected members of the council to re-present value-driven procurements of CNG-compliant vehicles in subsequent council meetings.
The Presidential aide emphasized that the President seeks to advance Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy, following the capacity of CNG-powered vehicles to produce lower emissions and provide a more affordable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.
