The Advisory Power Team, office of the Vice President report says Nigeria’s power sector lost about 2.145 billion naira due to shortage of gas supply, distribution and transmission infrastructure.
The team in its energy daily report in Abuja also stated that Electricity Generation Companies, GenCos which comprised gas-fired and hydro station, were unable to generate 4,208 megawatts of electricity on the same day due to unavailability of gas.
The Advisory Power Team in its report also noted that 260 megawatts of electricity were not generated due to unavailability of transmission infrastructure during the period.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, in a statement had earlier raised the alarm that the nation’s power sector was experiencing electricity supply shortage as a result of low gas shortage.
According to Company, the development is liable for the power supply shortage being experienced in some major cities.
