The nation’s power generation drop to a record low following the collapse of the national grid.
Data from the Nigeria Electricity System Operator, an arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, stood at about one thousand, six hundred megawatts.
The system operator put the nation’s installed generation capacity at about twelve thousand nine hundred megawatts; available capacity at seven thousand, six hundred megawatts; transmission wheeling capacity at eight thousand, one hundred megawatts and the peak generation ever attained at five thousand, three hundred megawatts.
The nation generates most of its electricity from gas-fired power plants, while output from hydro-power plants makes up about thirty per cent of the total.
