The battle between the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission, PSC of who is in charge of the recruitment of ten thousand constables has taken a new dimension, as the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, approved the release of the list of successful candidates regardless of the PSC suspending the exercise.
The Commission’s Chairman, Musiliu Smith was only informed about the publication of the results during his meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari and the Police Boss in Abuja in an effort to resolve the crisis.
It would be recalled that the Police Service Commission on Friday announced the suspension of the recruitment pending the resolution of the issues with the police. But the Police Boss said at a security stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan on Tuesday, that the recruitment exercise had not been suspended.
The Commission’s Spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani in a statement, dismissed the list released by the police, insisting it was compiled without its input. He added that the list has been withd rawn from the Police website.
