Petrol: President Buhari Did Not Order Subsidy Removal – Ahmed Lawal

Senate President Ahmed Lawan has guaranteed Nigerians that petrol subsidy will not be removed for now as being reported by some social and conventional media.

Lawal announced this while answering questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. According to him, Buhari has not directed anybody to remove fuel subsidy as speculated in some quarters.

He also noted that though the petrol subsidy is heavy, the burden cannot be transferred to ordinary citizens.

The Senate President insisted that he was not convinced that Nigerians consume that much a day, adding that there may be some level of sabotage involved.

Lawan however applauded Buhari for always showing concern over the plight of Nigerians.

The Senator while commenting on the new electoral bill vetoed by the president, expressed optimism that an amended electoral bill maybe returned to the president next week for his assent.
