The World Health Organisation, WHO has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic and urged countries to take urgent and aggressive action to contain the spread. There are now more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries while 4,291 people have lost their lives to the disease.
The organisation’s Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who made the declaration said the number of cases outside China had increased 13-fold over the past two weeks and expressed concern about “alarming levels of inaction” in the fight against the spread of the disease.
Ghebreyesus observed that the rapid spread of the coronavirus is not just a public health crisis, it is a crisis that will touch every sector so every sector and every individual must be involved in the fight. he also noted that 57 countries had reported 10 cases or less while 81 countries had not reported any cases.
In same vein, Health Authorities in eastern in Kenya have given the all-clear to 12 foreigners who had been quarantined for 15 days as a precaution against coronavirus.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua confirmed the news in a tweet: that all 12 arrived in Machakos, east of the Kenyan capital Nairobi, from China last month and were required to self-isolate on arrival.
