The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has directed workers in states that have not implemented the new 70 thousand naira minimum wage to commence an indefinite strike starting December 1, 2024.
This decision follows an NLC National Executive Council meeting, where members expressed frustration over certain state governments’ delay in implementing the wage increase.
The NLC criticized these state governments for their disregard for the law and for the financial hardships they are inflicting on workers.
An NLC committee will also launch a nationwide campaign to mobilize and educate workers on the importance of their wage rights.
Additionally, the NLC voiced concern about the economic challenges facing Nigerians, calling on the Federal Government to review policies that are contributing to inflation and hardship.
