Nigeria, South Korea To Strengthen Ties On Energy Challenges-Minister

Minister of State, Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba says Nigeria is willing to explore areas of partnership with South Korea to address its energy challenges.

The minister said this in Abuja on Tuesday when he received a delegation led by the President of Korea-Africa Foundation, Lyeo Woon-Ki.

Jedy-Agba said that learning from Korea’s experience and seeking areas of cooperation to address the nation’s energy problems were very appealing, adding that the Federal Government was willing to explore.

According to him, Nigeria is committed to the United Nations plan to transform global energy sector from fossil-based to zero carbon by 2060, as the current administration is investing heavily on the renewable energy sector.

Earlier, Woon-ki said that the purpose of his visit was to familiarise with the ministry and to have an insight into the power sector with a view to exploring possible areas of partnership, and on the visit with Woon-ki were, Kim Young-Chae, South Korea Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Kim Won-nyung, the director of Korea/Africa Foundation and Ms Son Eunkyung, Second Secretary of South Korea Embassy
