National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA destroyed 23,721.7948 kilogrammes of illicit drugs it seized between 2008 and 2022 in Enugu State.
Setting the drugs ablaze, Chairman of the NDLEA, Mohammed Marwa, gave the breakdown as follows: Cocaine 21.699 kilogrammes, Heroin 14.828 kilogrammes, Amphetamine 0.0618 kilogrammes, Methamphetamine 24.347 kilogrammes, precursor chemicals 154.0 kilogrammes, cannabis sativa 23,225.1 kilogrammes and pharmaceutical 281.759 kilogrammes.
Marwa, represented by the Director of General Investigation, NDLEA, Abuja, Samuel Gadzamal, commended the support from the state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to the ongoing efforts to curb the abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs in the communities and society at large.
He also appreciated the international counterparts such as the United States DEA, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the UK board force, the German Police and others for the success story of the Agency.
The chairman, however, called on all Nigerians to team up with government in fighting the war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
