The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU has tackled the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun for ignoring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s orders on the payment of 50 percent withheld salaries of the union members.
President of the Union, Makolo Hassan, made this known during the National Executive Council, NEC meeting of the union, lamented those
four months after the directive, nothing was done on the matter.
Makolo, while commenting on the fuel subsidy removal and its resultant effect on the economy, decried the constraints associated with refining the product locally in Nigeria despite having the commodity in abundance.
He also counter claims coming from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL and government sources, the sector is
obviously being politicised, placing a heavy burden on the economy and consumers alike.
It would be recalled that Tinubu had while approving a 70,000 naira minimum wage for workers in the country, directed the Finance Minister
to deploy resources and pay 50 percent out of the four owed after a nationwide protest by the university workers.
