The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has seized illicit drugs worth 100 billion naira between January and August, 2021.
Spokesman of the agency Femi Babafemi, told newsmen that the agency’s operatives also arrested 8,634 suspected drug traffickers during the period, including 6,461 males and 547 females. He added that the NDLEA destroyed 1,202 hectares of cannabis farms in various states across the country, while more than 10 million Nigerians abused drugs in the period under review.
The Agency’s Spokesman assured Nigerians that with over 8,634 arrests and drugs worth over 100 billion naira seized, they were sure the ugly situation would be tackled.
He also announced that about 4,269 drug users have been counselled and rehabilitated between January and August stating that the ongoing War Against Drug Abuse, WADA would curb the twin evils of drug abuse and trafficking.
