National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP with support from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC says it is partnering state and non-state actors to establish Task Forces on human trafficking.

Sylvester Atere, Communications Officer, UNODC Nigeria, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, this is part of efforts to decrease vulnerabilities to trafficking of women, children and the youth.

Atere said the major output of the project was to support an improved partnership coordination in the referral process for the support and protection of trafficked victims.

He said that the first State Task Force was established by Edo Government followed by Ondo, Delta and Ekiti, adding that other States were expected to follow soon.

Atere quoted UNODC Executive Director, Yury Fedotov, in his statement to commemorate world Day against Trafficking in Persons, as saying: “Tackling human trafficking brings us closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
