The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has giving reasons why it arrested the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano.
It was however gathered that the former Governor was nabbed by the anti-graft agency on Thursday night at the Lagos International Airport, on his way out of the country.
The development is coming barely few hours after he handed over power to the new State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
EFCC Spokesman Wilson Uwajaren, who confirmed the arrest, said former Governor had been on the watch-list of the EFCC prior to the transition on Thursday.
He added that Obiano is being probed over some suspicious projects, including the Umueri International Airport project whose cost was believed to be inflated.
