12 people have died and many injured in Cameroon’s business hub, Douala, after a four-storey building collapsed in the early hours of yesterday.
Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Ivaha Diboua, said the cause of the collapse is unclear but the taller building appears to have fallen onto a smaller one.
He added that 31 people have been rescued, while 12 confimred dead and the others are currently in hospital receiving medical treatment.
Also, Local residents said the incident occurred around midnight, but it was not until the early hours of the morning that emergency services arrived.
One local hospital said it had treated 13 cases arising from the tragedy and recorded two deaths, including a three-year-old girl and a 19-year-old girl.
