The tripartite committee on new minimum wage failed to reach an agreement for the third time.

At the resumed talks, organised Labour rejected the 60, 000 naira offered by the Federal Government representatives.

The fresh proposal is 3, 000 naira above government’s last offer of 57, 000 naira made last week which the Ni Labour Congress NLC, said it was unacceptable.

The NLC however, lowered its last week’s proposal of 497, 000 naira to 494, 000 naira as acceptable minimum wage for public sector worker.

A Labour leader who attended the meeting said that when the organised Labour saw that the Federal Government was not ready to increase its offer, they walked out of the meeting, but the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said the Federal Government was committed to giving workers a new minimum wage.
