Kogi Bayelsa Polls: Centre Advises Persons With Disabilities On Security

A Non-governmental organisation, the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, CCD has advised Persons Living With Disabilities, PLWDs in Kogi and Bayelsa States to ensure that their security is guaranteed before going out to cast their votes on November 16th.

The Executive Director of the centre David Anyaele who gave the advice while addressing newsmen in Abuja said it was important for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to collaborate with relevant security agencies to ensure their safety to and from the polling stations.

The Executive Director, while delivering a summary report on the assessment of provisions for PLWDs in INEC preparation for the forthcoming elections, recommended that PLWDs cast their votes within their vicinity.

Anyaele said that provision should be made for more accessible polling stations and polling booths, especially for people using wheel-chairs. He added that there should be provision for sign language interpreters and other specialists to assist PWDs during elections.
