The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Cross River chapter, Ben Ukpepi has been released by his kidnappers.
Ukpepi, who was released on Sunday after being in captivity for six days, was abducted in his residence in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River.
The state’s Police Spokesman Irene Ugbo who confirmed the release of the NLC chairman in Calabar said he was free by a combined team of security agencies in the state and he did not disclose if any ransom was paid for his release, but added that he is unhurt.
According to Ugbo, the NLC Chairman is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Calabar.
On his part, the State Security Adviser for Southern Cross River, Ani Esin also said that Ukpepi was released by the efforts of government and security agencies in the state.
