Three people have been shot dead in Kawo, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State after a kidnap suspect was set ablaze by the crowd and two others escaped into NIPCO Petrol Station.
Eye witness account said the three kidnap suspects were apprehended after they kidnapped one Alhaji Musa Kawo Birnin Yero after forcing him out of his vehicle while driving his children to school at Kawo new Extension.
A commercial Motorcyclist was said to have noticed the kidnappers and mobilised to block the kidnappers’ gate-away attempt during which the driver was killed on the spot and the vehicle: Toyota Siena was set ablaze. The two other kidnapers ran into the filling station where the police came to their rescue.
The crowd was said to have demanded for their release for jungle justice. This led the Police to call for reinforcement, attracting the military and other security outfits. The demand of the crowd led to the Police shooting into the air to scare away the crowd after shooting teargas at them to no avail.
Three people out of the crowd were said to have been shot dead while others sustained injuries as a result of the pandemonium.
Alhaji Musa Birnin Yero who was kidnapped is said to be safe but kept at an undisclosed location by the security agents.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer of Kaduna State Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo said he was in in a meeting.
