Kano State Government is to sustain the gains of the Girls Education Project to enhance the enrollment drive for girls and improve learning outcomes for them.
The Chairman of the School Based Management Committee, SBMC Tijjani Baraya made this known to Newsmen in Kano.
In the same vein, a member of the mothers’ association in Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State, Amina Adamu said the project was an eye opener for her.
However, some of the students who took part in the project revealed that the project is a life changing experience.
The project which began in 2012 is being implemented in Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara, supported by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office of the United Kingdom, UK which was implemented in 300 girl’s schools in six local government areas in Kano.
Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said the State Government recorded increased school enrollment of over 3 million pupils of which over 2000 of the figure in the 2019-2020 annual school census were girls, indicating 96 per cent increase on Girl Child enrolment in the state.
