Kano Emirate: Mixed Reactions Trail Emir Sanusi’s Dethronement

A cross-section of Nigerians has reacted to the dethronement of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi the second.

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF has called for calm following the dethronement of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi over what the Kano State Government described as disrespect to lawful instructions from the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and other lawful authorities.

The National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim Biu in a statement explained that the forum it had earlier intervened in the dispute between the Kano State government and Kano Emirate Council and had called for an amicable resolve. It noted that with yesterday’s turn of actions, it called for calm and understanding among the citizens of Kano and Nigerians.

Senator Shehu Sani, on his part, said the removal of Emir Sanusi signifies the incompatibility of the crown and conscience, the consequences of conflict against established rules and the heavy price of holding principles in the North.

In his reaction, a veteran journalist Dele Momodu tweeted that he hoped now that Governor Ganduje, but criticized the action.
