The National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Kaduna has upheld the election of the lawmaker representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Uba Sani, in the February 2019 election.

The Tribunal ruled out the application filed by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Lawal Adamu Usman challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s declaration of Uba Sani as the winner of the February 2019 election.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice A. H. Suleiman while delivering the judgment, ruled that the evidence presented by the PDP candidate was based on rumour which was not acceptable in law.

The Tribunal also held that the petitioner failed to prove any of his allegations of corrupt practices, over voting and election violence.

It had on Wednesday, dismissed the petition brought before it by the former lawmaker representing the zone in the eighth Senate, Senator Shehu Sani for lack of merit.
