The Kaduna State Government says security forces have confirmed that 11 persons were killed in a fresh terrorists attack at Kurmin Masara area of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Sunday.
State Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement explained that troops of the Nigerian Air Force Special Forces, who responded to distress calls, also fell into an ambush as they mobilized to the scene of the attack and that over 30 houses and properties were set ablaze.
He added that the troops cleared the ambush and reached the general area, along with troops of Operation Safe Haven, OPSH. The statement said Governor Nasir El-Rufai, expressed sadness at this report of the latest in a series of attacks in the area.
In a similar incident, unknown gunmen have launched one of the bloodiest attacks in Nigeri State, targeted at the Joint Security Task Force in Galadiman Kogo, Shiroro Local Government Area, killing seven top commanders. Also killed during the attack were four members of the newly recruited local vigilance group meant to reinforce the operations of the task force in communities.
