The Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF Kayode Fayemi, the Co-Chairmen of NIREC, the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Olasupo Olakunle, have advocated for the prosecution of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers in Nigeria. This is coming as President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the recent attacks, describing the loss of lives, livelihoods and properties perpetrated by criminals as inhumane.
They made the call at an interactive session with stakeholders in Jos, Plateau State aimed at seeking lasting solutions to the insecurity in the state.
Fayemi, who sympathized with Governor Simon Lalong over the recent attacks, advised him not to be distracted in the pursuit of peace and mutual understanding among groups in the state.
On his part, the Sultan called for mutual understanding and religious tolerance amongst the two major religions in Nigeria, noting that no religion preaches violence, anyone that does it is going straight to hell.
In a similar vein, the CAN President advocated for quick dispensation of justice, and also tasked security agencies to step up their efforts in the discharge of their duties.
