Insecurity: Bandits Kill 7 Police Officers, Set Patrol Vehicle Ablaze In Zamfara

The Zamfara State Government has confirmed the killings of seven Police personnel by bandits along the Tofa-Magami Road in the Gusau Local Government Area.

Special Assistant to Governor Bello Matawalle on new media, Ibrahim Zauma, who confirmed the attack, expressed shocked over the bandits’ ambush, which claimed the lives of the police officers and prayed for the repose of their souls. He added that the Governor had cancelled his planned all meetings in commiseration of the death of the gallant MOPOL officers at Kurar Mota frontline base.

A resident of Dangulbi, who pleaded anonymity said he heard the gunshots coming from the axis he was heading to and when some people standing by the roadside asked him to stop, but could not confirm how many people died. Also, an indigene of the area, Salisu Sani, said the incident occurred about 6pm, on Monday, when the Police personnel went to the area on patrol mission and were ambushed, while their operational vehicle set was ablaze.

However, Zamfara State Police Command is yet comment on the incident.
