The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has officially opened the political space for the 2023 general election after publishing the notice of election, in compliance with extant provisions of the law.

The notice, which was published on Monday in each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, contained the dates for the elections, and the places where the nomination papers would be delivered.

From the schedule of activities for the 2023 polls, released on Saturday, political parties are expected to begin collection of forms from INEC from March 1, 2022.

According to the INEC, the presidential and national assembly elections will now hold on Saturday, February 25, 2023; while governorship and state house of assembly elections will hold on March 11, 2023.
