The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU has threatened an industrial action if the Federal Government failed the February deadline to fully implement the minimum wage.

The Union in a communiqué issued at the end of its 41st National Executive Council, NEC meeting held at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State, decried the suffering its members are going through due to the chaotic nature of the implementation of the Integrated Personnel Payroll System, IPPIS.

It also frowned at the persistent insincerity and double-dealings of the Federal Government over agreements and memoranda of understanding seamlessly signed with labour unions.

The Communiqué recalled many pledges of the government to pay the agreed arrears of the new national minimum wage, noting that the promise is yet to be met after many months, saying the last promise being the end of October 2021.

It however pleaded with the government to keep to the promise of payment of the arrears of the new national minimum wage, which has already lost its value as of today. Also, the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals has urged the National Council on Establishment, NCE to ensure the immediate and full implementation of the circular on pharmacists’ consultant cadre.
