The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has advised the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritise education to avoid unnecessary industrial disputes in the sector.

ASUP President, Anderson Ezeibe, who made the call, noted that the Union had embarked on a series of industrial actions in the last eight years as the Federal Government failed to meet their demands.

It will be recalled that ASUP had downed tools for 147 days between January 2017 and December 2021, the figure has, however, increased as the union also embarked on strike in 2022.

In another development, the National Industrial Court, has fixed May 30 to deliver judgement in the suit filed by the federal government against the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The government in the suit, dragged Union before the court to determine the substantive suit filed during the 2022 ASUU’s eight-month strike.
