The National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, NAGGMDP has challenged state governments over appropriate infrastructure development in Secondary Health Care to achieve Universal Health Coverage, UHC.
The Association’s National President, Abubakar Ayinla, and the General Secretary of the association, Nura Abubakar made the call in a communiqué at the end of the National Executive Council meeting of NAGGMDP.
The inaugural National
Executive Council, NEC meeting for the 2019/2020 Executive year of the
Association was held in Ilorin
between June 13 and 16, with the theme “State of Secondary Health Care System in Nigeria: Catalysing a Paradigm Shift,”.
According to the communiqué, states of the federation must focus on Secondary Health Care, as it is the health component of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs and developing the tertiary services.
The Association advised state governments to also appropriate adequate fund that shall ensure timely payment of salaries when due.
