The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU has reiterated Labour’s decision to protest any hike in fuel price by Federal Government.

National President of the Union Haruna Ibrahim made this known during SSANU’s 41st Regular National Executive Council, NEC meeting hosted by Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife Branch, Osun state. He added that the economic downturn was taking its toll on citizens as prices of goods were skyrocketing beyond control.

Ibrahim also explained that the organised labour would soon come out with a position on the planned increase in fuel price across the country, noting that 40 per cent of the agreements association signed with Federal Government was not implemented.

The Union’s President however applauded the Vice-Chancellor of the University Eyitope Ogunbodede for maintaining peaceful coexistence with staff and students of the institution.

In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated SSANU for chosen OAU for its 41st Regular NEC meeting. He noted that said that OAU and the association had been playing pivotal roles in the smooth running affairs of the university, saying that there are no outstanding issue to settle with the union.
