About fourteen persons in Moda Village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State have died of food poisoning.

Residents said that a housewife who mistook an ingredient for heyna design popularly known as “Gishirin lalle”, as a food seasoning added it to the stew she was cooking for dinner, thinking it was the seasoning known as Ajino moto.

Anka local government official who pleaded anonymity said    those who ate the meal died. He explained that eight of them died in a hospital in Sokoto state while the remaining six died at home.

The Zamfara State Police command spokesman Muhammad Shehu, who confirmed the incident gave the number of the death as eight saying investigation into the matter has commenced.
