The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, has restated Federal Government’s commitment to train more than 50,000 agricultural extension workers to boost agricultural production in Nigeria.
The minister said this during a 3-day Annual National Stakeholders Review and Planning Workshop today in Zaria.
Represented by Director of Extension of the ministry, Frank Satumari, Nanono said Nigeria was faced with the issue of aging in agricultural extension services.
He noted that the young officers were not being trained to take over from the senior officers that were retiring.

Division in the Department of Agricultural Extension where the ministry used to
train women and youth in the agriculture as part of the activities to revamp extension
