The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has appealed to Nigerians not to engage in panic buying of petrol, saying it has enough in stock.

The Federal Government is to save about twelve million dollars daily by reducing the current 50 million litres of petrol consumed in the country every 24 hours.

The Coordinator, Regulations, Compliance and Facilitation, Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas, PCNGi, Zayyan Tambari, told participants of a Co-Creation Session on Nigeria Gas Vehicle Monitoring System, in Abuja, that the government needed 890 million dollars investment to establish an alternative fuel infrastructure.

He also noted that this would be achieved through the conversion of a sizeable number of vehicles in the country to Compressed Natural Gas, CNG users.

Tambari added that the government hoped to ensure that one million vehicles became CNG-enabled, and total reduction in import will be 4.4 billion dollar annually. Also Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, assured the participants that government is committed to ensuring the
