The Federal Government has distributed two sets of uniforms, bags and exercise books to 150 selected pupils to boost school enrolment in Sokoto State.

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, stated this during the distribution and inauguration of 2021 National Identification and Enrollment Drive for School Age Children in Sokoto.

Adamu, represented by Director, Basic Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Folake Olatunji-David, said that cash was also distributed to parents of selected pupils as support.

He said that the gesture is part of the strategic plans introduced by the Federal Government to reduce out-of-school children.

He noted that Sokoto was selected in North west Nigeria and that support is being replicated in each of the geopolitical zones in the country.

The minister said that Sokoto was among the states with low enrolment of schools prevalence in the country and commended government efforts in the education sector.

Adamu urged wealthy Nigerians to support less privileged families to adopt one or more out-of-school children, enrol them and sponsor their education.
