Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has presided over today’s virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council, which held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Prof. Osinbajo chairs the meeting in the absence of President
Muhammadu Buhari who is in Brussels, Belgium, for the 6th European
Union-African Union Summit.
Ministers physically present at the meeting are Lai Mohammed,
Information and Culture; Adamu Adamu, Education; Zainab Ahmed,
Finance, Budget and National Planning; Isa Pantami, Communication
and Digital Economy; Niyi Adebayo, Industry, Trade and Investment;
Hadi Sirika, Aviation; and Mohammed Abubakar, Agriculture and Rural
Development.
Others are Clem Agba, Minister of State for Budget and National
Planning and Zubairu Dada, Minister of Foreign Affairs, while other
ministers joined virtually from their offices.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha said the
meeting marked the beginning of resumption of more members of the
Federal Executive Council to the weekly meetings, adding that a second
batch of ministers would join President Buhari at next week’s meeting,
adding that full resumption of members to cabinet meetings would be
announced when health experts decides that it was safe.
Virtual meetings of the Federal Executive Council began in mid 2020 in
compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
