Also, Former Permanent Secretary in Kwara, Shehu Gafar, has advised civil servants in the state to be mindful of their integrity before engaging in corrupt practices.
Gafar, gave the advice while receiving the new executive members of Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Kwara Chapter, during a courtesy visit at his residence in Ilorin.
The association newly elected executives in the state, led by Ayo Fagbemi, visited some of their veteran colleagues for their support and advice.
Gafar, also the former Secretary to the State Government, said that civil servants were supposed to be apolitical, but many of them are now involved in politics and even making it known.
He explained that the position of permanent secretary is the apex in civil service, which many wished to attain and only few people have the opportunity to reach.
U.S. SANCTIONS SOUTH SUDAN OFFICIALS RESPONSIBLE FOR SEXUAL VIOLENCE
United Stated has designated two South Sudanese officials for conflict-related sexual violence.
The US Treasury said that James Nando, a Major General in the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces, and Western Equatoria Governor Alfred Futuyo abused their positions of political and military authority.
It said the duo carried out acts of sexual violence against citizens of South Sudan.
According to Washington, in 2021 forces loyal to Nando were responsible for at least 64 instances of rape and sexual slavery against civilians in the state of Western Equatoria, and in 2018, he was responsible for the abduction of hundreds of women and girls.
Washington said that forces under the command of Futuyo, who is affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition, carried out attacks in Western Equatoria.
It said that attack resulted in the abduction of 887 civilians, of whom at least 43 were raped.
