The European Union, EU in partnership with United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has pledged to enroll and skill 1.5 million children, youths and adolescents in Jigawa, Katsina and Kano states.
Senior Education Manager, UNICEF, Kano Field Office, Michael Banda, made the commitment at a multi-sectoral key stakeholders meeting on education and youths empowerment project in Kano.
He explained that the programme was aimed at increasing the number of girls and boys benefiting from safe, inclusive, relevant learning and skills development opportunities in Kano, Jigawa and Sokoto states.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, commended the development partners for the gesture, and restated the state government’s commitment to invest in education sector.
