Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has told Northern leaders to emulate the late Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, while politicking.
Speaking at a special lecture organised by the Sardauna Memorial
Foundation at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, Osinbajo
said the Sardauna of Sokoto’s sterling leadership quality would remain
indelible in the political lexicon of the country.
At the lecture entitled ‘Reviving the Northern Traditional Institutions,
Imperatives on Peace and Security in the North,’ the VP stated that the
Sardauna fought to jettison differences in ethnic and religious decisions
during his lifetime.
According to him, the issue of good governance and leadership in a
democratic setting entails commitment and doggedness of a leader who
can, at all times, strive to safeguard his people at all costs.
On the persistent insecurity in the North, Osinbajo assured that the
Federal Government is working round the clock to ensure that those
apprehended as a result of evolvement in terrorism are speedily
prosecuted in line with the laws of the country.
