The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Yiaga Africa have called on the National Assembly to accelerate the passage of the Electoral Reform amendment Bill.
NLC President Ayuba Wabba made the call at a Roundtable meeting on Electoral Reform in collaboration with Yiaga Africa in Abuja. He explained that having participated in elections from 1999, NLC feels there is need for improvement in the electoral process, especially the aspect of the law that deals with how to choose a candidate.
The Labor leader also noted that having such process at the eve of the election would not provide the necessary environment for citizens to participate properly or for the new amendment Act to be effective.
On his part, the Executive Director, Yiaga Africa Samson Itodo called on the National Assembly to accelerate the process for December to be a definite timeline. He said the move has become necessary so that we do not have the reoccurrence of what happened in the 8th Assembly.,
