Eid-El-Fitr: Kano, Katsina, Borno Muslims Ignore Sultan, PTF, Storm Prayer Grounds

Some Muslims in Kano, Katsina, Borno, Zamfara and Bauchi states on Sunday ignored instruction of the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, which stated that there should be no large gatherings at Eid prayers.

It would be recalled that, Kano, Katsina, Borno and Yobe states, last week relaxed the Federal Government’s lockdown to allow religious body to hold their congregational activities and gave  Muslims the go-ahead to hold prayers at Eid at grounds to mark the end of Ramadan fasting.

The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA Deputy Secretary General, Salisu Shehu had in a statement said massive gatherings at one Eid ground should be avoided and rather be performed in area Mosques to avoid uncontrollable crowds.

Also, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI Secretary General Khalid Abubakar, had in a statement said, “Eid-el-Fitr congregation on the outskirts of towns and cities should be temporarily suspended and directed Muslims to observe Sallah prayers at home
